CHANGING ROOMS
Renovated changing rooms opened
by
Cliff Morgan CVO, OBE
The renovated changing rooms were opened on Saturday 5th May by Cliff Morgan. An afternoon of sporting activities were organised by Bembridge Sports Club in the park and Community Centre which, due to poor weather, were curtailed somewhat.
At 3pm Cliff performed the unveiling of the plaque recording the event and that was followed, in the Community Centre, by speeches from Keith Cooke the chairman of Bembridge Sports Club, Gordon Kendall chairman of the Parish Council and Cliff Morgan.
Following the speeches refreshments consisting of sandwiches and delicious cup cakes were served.
Despite the poor weather only truncated junio

e-a-side football went ahead outside and therefore the table tennis in the Centre became very popular for all ages.
Despsite the miserable weather the 50 or so people that came along enjoyed themselves.

Indoor League
A disapointing end to an indifferent season.
The season started off well with us winning our games until mid-season then we went off the boil and lost game after game. This resulted us finishing up in the bottom half of the league.
A big disappointment following our sucesses in previous years.
We faired better in the cup getting through to the final. However Cask & Crispin beat us in an exiting game. We scored 149-4 with Karl Lacey getting 40 not out and Mano Obeyesekere 28 not out. Cask & Crispin got the winning runs in the last over with one wicket left.

Season Fizzles Out.
A disapointing season all round. We finish up bottom with just 2 wins under our belt.
It was a poorly thoughtout division with teams playing each other 3 times, either 2 home and one away or the reverse. This meant that teams that were unlucky to be drawn away against a strong team were at a disadavantage. By the end of the season most teams were disapointed by the arrangements.
Although our results looked bad on paper the team played many good games just losing some very close contests.

Galway Cup
